One of England's great authors.

Obituary:

Richard Adams wrote more than 20 books, most of which failed to achieve significant literary acclaim or large sales. But one book brought him fame and fortune : the multi-layered Watership Down. It is a simple story, it is a complex parable and it's a combination of horror story and bedtime tale.

If that had been his only work, he would be worthy of a place in English literary history.
